In the past couple of years we have completed numerous loft conversions.
The First Project: Mainly small works, on the first we just built internal walls to create a room divide. We plaster boarded the walls and ceilings, skimmed them and fitted new carpentry. To allow access we fitted a large sprung loaded pull down loft ladder to enable safe access into the loft. We had lighting fitted throughout, and decorated to finish.
The 2nd Project: After the client had been told by an architect that he would have to put in a new stairs, we told him we could alter the existing landing ect. We made a doorway into a void in the loft space off the landing return. By altering the floor timber in the void area, we were able to lower a section of the timber joists to the level of the landing, and then built up the remaining floor by 150mm, this enabled the client to have an opening door into the room from the landing area, and then a spacious floor area for the new bedroom.
A Velux dormer window was introduced to give ample light and aeration to the room before the entire sloping roof was insulated and plaster boarded and skimmed. We then boxed of sections of the slope to create another void, which then became a cupboard space with doors.
We finished off with carpentry and decorations throughout.
